Signed out, nothing of yours leaves your browser

Your word list, your sentences and your settings are kept by the extension in Chrome's own local storage, and everything you can do with them works with no account at all. Uninstalling the extension deletes them.

Tuttu does not read a page until you switch it on for that page, and it never sends a whole page anywhere — not signed in, not signed out.

What is sent to us, and why

  • The sentence or the words you asked about. Sending them is the only way to translate them. They are sent with the two language codes and nothing else — no URL, no page title, no identifier of the page you were on.
  • Your email address, because an account is how a subscription knows who it belongs to. We use it to send sign-in codes and, rarely, to tell you something about your subscription. No marketing email.
  • The words translated for you, per language pair, which is how the plans are enforced — a word counts once, Hobby is 7,000 of them, and Pro has a fair-use ceiling of 2,000 new ones a day. The words, not the sentences they were in.
  • Your own list, once you are signed in — the words you have decided about, the sentences you met, and your settings. That is what makes them the same on a second device and what this site shows you. It is yours: it is stored per account and not pooled with anyone else's, our support screens can count it and cannot open it, and it is deleted with the account. We keep a nightly copy for 90 days so that a mistake is recoverable.

Translations are stored and shared

A translated sentence is kept in a shared store, keyed by the text and the language pair, so that the next reader who meets the same sentence gets the same answer without paying for it again. That store is not linked to any account: it records the text and its translation, never who asked.

This is worth being plain about, because it is a real trade. Do not use Tuttu on text you would not want stored — a private document, a message from someone else, anything confidential.

Who else sees it

  • OpenRouter, and through it the model provider, receives the text to be translated.
  • Stripe handles payment. Card details go to Stripe directly and never reach us.
  • Cloudflare hosts the service and delivers the sign-in emails.

Nothing is sold, and there is no advertising or analytics tracking in the extension.

Deleting your account

Email us and we will delete the account, its email address, its subscription record, everything it holds of your own list, and the nightly copies of it. Cached translations are not deleted, because they are not yours — they are not linked to you and would be identical if any other reader had asked.
